Excess Baggage Charges

Sporting Equipment

Ø     Golf equipment carried as additional equipment will not be charged provided that its total weight does not exceed the 15 kilos. 

Ø     For sporting equipment such as: 

    • bowling
    • water/snow ski that do not exceed the maximum dimensions 190cm x 75cm x 65cm
    • and diving (except oxygen bottles) equipment,

if exceed the normal free baggage allowance, then such additional equipment will be charged with a standard fee of 35 Euro. The maximum allowed weight for the above categories is 15 kgs.

If the weight of the items included in the sporting equipment categories exceeds the 15 Kgs then the excess baggage charges will apply.

Ø     One bicycle per passenger is accepted for carriage as checked baggage at an extra charge of EUR 35 per sector provided it is packed, its handlebars are fixed sideways, its pedals are removed or fixed inwards and its tires are flat.

Ø     Other certain oversize and overweight items, and sporting equipment that is not included in the categories above, such as wind-surfer boards, hand-gliders, water-skis that exceed the maximum dimensions, and canoes, are not accepted as baggage and must be carried as cargo. Ø     Sporting/Hunting guns can be accepted only as checked baggage or cargo. Guns that are packed in a separate weapons case and are accepted for carriage as checked baggage will be charged 35 Euro provided that the total weight of the case does not exceed the 15 kilos. Total weight of ammunition for sporting purposes cannot exceed 5 kgs (packaging included) per passenger. Specific standards need to be fulfilled, including packaging in a solid packet (plastic or carton).For more information contact  Cyprus Airways Cargo (Tel. Musical Instruments

A musical instrument can be carried either in Cabin (free of charge) or as checked baggage or cargo or at an extra seat (provided that it will be reserved and paid, excluding taxes), depending on its dimensions and weight. If checked in, the weight of the instrument will be counted as part of the total weight baggage allowance and any excess weight will be charged as appropriate. We always make every effort to locate and deliver your mishandled baggage the soonest possible. Provided you have completed a lost luggage claim upon arrival, you will be notified about the status of your lost luggage and it will be delivered to you a soon as it is retrieved.

6. What can I do if I lose an article on board?

Every effort shall be made to return articles lost on-board our aircraft to their owners. Articles that were left on-board a Cyprus Airways aircraft may be reported to the Lost & Found Office at Larnaca airport (telephone: +357 24 008534/35 )

You may also report your loss to a Cyprus Airways Baggage Service representative at any airport served by Cyprus Airways.

8. What is the minimum check-in time?

To reach your flight in good time, Cyprus Airways recommends that you allow plenty of time for check-in, especially when checking baggage and also for the security checks.

The minimum check-in time for departures out of Larnaca and Paphos airports is two hours ahead of departure.

For airports outside Cyprus, the minimum check-in time is normally the same (2 hours), but you are advised to check in advance with the Cyprus Airways local Reservations offices for further details.

To avoid any inconvenience, please observe the check-in times as late arrival may result in denied boarding.

9. Can I use an airport lounge?

Cyprus Airways’ Sunjet Executive Club Members, holders of Gold , Corporate Gold as well as Business Class passengers, are all eligible to use our Business Lounges at all destinations that we fly.

Silver Sunjet Executive Club Members are eligible to use our Business Lounges only at Larnaca and Paphos airport

12. Is there any weight limit for the baggage I will be checking?

To comply with health & safety requirements, Cyprus Airways has introduced a maximum weight limit for single items of hold baggage. In line with this new policy, Cyprus Airways does not accept any piece of baggage that exceeds 32kg in weight.

In case that you cannot comply with this requirement you will be asked to reduce the weight of the piece of baggage by re-packing or make alternative arrangements.

It is noted that this policy refers to single items and does not affect your overall baggage allowance, as shown on your ticket.
